Weekend of September 5th
Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us for a weekend of quadding at our gold claim. We'll be camped 6.5 kilometers from our claim because the road after that can be impassable if it rains and the big rigs wouldn't be able to negotiate down to the actual claim site. Camping is very dry. Bring your own water and the closest outhouse is 6.5 kilometers away (there are plenty of bushes for you and your shovel to visit). There is no cell service. There is plenty of wildlife in the area. We've seen deer, moose, rabbits, gophers, frogs, birds of all descriptions (bring your bird book), wolf (one wolf, one time) and bear. The quads, vehicles, people and dogs make enough noise that none of it is a problem.
Take No 3 highway (Crowsnest) all the way through Manning Park. From the Eastgate Manning gas station/diner it's 18.5 kilometers to the turn off. You'll pass the brake check on Sunday Summit and from there it's three kilometers to the turn off. It's a right turn onto Lower Sunday Summit road and we'll have markers out so you don't miss it. As soon as you turn onto the road you'll cross a cattle guard and it's two kilometers from there to where we'll be camped.
On the way home there is a sani dump in Manning Park for anyone who needs one.
Mike and I will be there on Friday and will likely be staying right through to the Monday. If you're thinking about coming it would be great if you could let us know so we have an idea of numbers.
